A Modesto man was arrested Tuesday while he was in Morgan Hill, allegedly to sell drugs.
Jerome Parks, 29, was taken to Santa Clara County Jail and charged with transportation of drugs for sale and possession of controlled substances for sale.
He was arrested after leaving a residence on East Main Street – the same home where two pit bulls attacked another dog last week. The Morgan Hill Police Animal Control officer was driving by the residence when he spotted Parks leaving and called for a regular officer to respond, according to MHPD Cmdr. Joe Sampson.
“He saw someone that matched the description of Mr. Walker, and we have been looking for Mr. Walker in connection with the pit bull attack,” Sampson said Friday. “Mr. Walker has a similar description to Mr. Parks.”
John Walker is one of the owners of the pit bulls. One of the two dogs was shot by a police officer as it charged him. The other was tranquilized by Animal Control officers and euthanized.
Sampson said as Parks left the East Main Avenue residence, officers responded and stopped him, suspecting he was Walker.
“As he got out of the vehicle, one of the officers noticed that he had a bag wrapped around his leg, like a fanny pack,” he said. “During the pat search, officers figured out there was something in the pouch. The pouch contained a quantity of methamphetamine and cocaine, and some of it was individually wrapped and packaged.”
Over 12 grams of cocaine and 2.6 grams of methamphetamine were found in Park’s possession.
Officers also found a scale in Parks’ car.
Sampson said the connection between Parks and the Walkers is not clear.
“Certainly when we spoke to her (Josephine Walker), she had no knowledge of what he had on him,” he said.
