Teens clean up prank-related mess
A group of male teens spent the night cleaning up garbage they displaced after they were caught in the midst of an apparent prank in an east Morgan Hill neighborhood, police said.
A resident near Thomas Grade and East Dunne avenues called police about 1:30 a.m. Sept. 17 to report that several people in a Nissan were driving up and down the street knocking over garbage cans. A resident on Copper Hill Drive, in the Holiday Lake Estates subdivision, reported seeing the same vehicle and activity moments later, police said.
Police determined that more than 20 garbage cans had been turned over on Dunne Avenue, Jackson Oaks Drive and throughout Holiday Lake Estates.
When police caught up to the Nissan, they found it was occupied by three male juveniles, who confessed to causing the mess. The teens cleaned up the garbage the same night, police said.
Child involved in hit and run
A child was uninjured after a car hit a stroller in the Walmart parking lot, at 170 Cochrane Plaza.
The child’s mother called police to report the incident about 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to Morgan Hill Police. The woman was standing outside her blue Ford Escape with the child in a stroller next to her, when a tan four-door Honda Civic allegedly backed up and hit the stroller.
The child’s mother approached the driver’s side of the Honda and hit the window with her hand, police said. The driver of the Honda, an adult female in her 30s, took a picture of the child’s mother with her cell-phone camera and fled the area.
The child was uninjured and the mother declined medical attention, police said.
The Honda was last seen traveling eastbound on Cochrane Road, toward U.S. 101, according to police.
