San Jose man accused of Morgan Hill rape

A San Jose man was arrested on suspicion of raping a teenager at a party in Morgan Hill over the weekend, police said.

Police received a report from the 19-year-old female victim early Sunday morning. The victim, a San Jose resident, said she had been raped between the hours of 12 and 1 a.m. at a party in a residence near San Pedro Avenue and Nina Lane, according to Sgt. Jerry Neumayer.

The victim said while she was at the party, she ended up in a room where a man forced her onto the bed and raped her.

“She was able to get away from the residence, get into a friend’s vehicle (and flee), and she reported it later,” Neumayer said.

After the victim reported the assault, police went to the residence about 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Based on statements from the occupants of the home, they arrested the suspected rapist, David Munoz-Rosas, 24, who was still at the scene but did not live there. He was booked into Santa Clara County Jail, Neumayer said.

Beating suspects provide little information

Two young men who told police they did not know each other but showed up at the hospital Sunday night bearing injuries indicating they had been assaulted, said they were badly beaten up at separate locations in Morgan Hill, at about the same time, police said.

Morgan Hill Police received a call from Saint Louise Regional Hospital Sunday night, reporting that two males ages 17 and 20 had checked in with “obvious visible injuries,” Sgt. Jerry Neumayer said.

Authorities contacted the two victims soon after receiving the call from the hospital.

The 17-year-old said he was jumped by a group of suspects between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Railroad and San Pedro avenues. He told police he was punched and kicked repeatedly, in the head and body. His facial injuries were “pretty severe,” Neumayer said, possibly requiring surgery to his right eye.

The 20-year-old victim, whose name police did not release, said he was jumped between 7 and 8 p.m. near the intersection of Spring and Barnell avenues.

He said he was walking when a vehicle stopped next to him and a group of suspects exited and tried to force him into the car, Neumayer said. The man resisted and tried to run away, but the group caught up with him and punched and kicked him multiple times.

The man told police that he went home and then went to the hospital.

Both did not give police a description of the suspects or vehicles.

Although the two young men said they did not know each other, police have unspecified evidence that indicates they do. Neumayer said the crimes are possibly gang-related, and the two victims were not as cooperative as they could be.

“We believe they could give us more information. There were no independent witnesses. They didn’t even report it (to police), and odds are they would never have called us,” Neumayer said.
