A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and defrauding an innkeeper after he walked out of Denny’s, after eating a full meal, without paying his tab, police said.
An employee of the restaurant at 875 Cochrane Road called police about 12:57 a.m. Sunday to report a customer left without paying his tab of $23.78, according to police reports. The caller also told police the man appeared to be intoxicated, and he drove away in a white Volkswagen Jetta.
Police saw a vehicle matching the description a few minutes later at the intersection of Monterey Road and East Edmundson Avenue. An officer made a traffic stop, and determined the driver matched the description of the diner who left Denny’s without paying. The man also showed signs of being intoxicated, police said.
The 25-year-old man was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of DUI and defrauding an innkeeper.
