A parolee-at-large raced through Morgan Hill at speeds approaching 120mph the morning of Oct. 11 with Morgan Hill police officer Curtis Berlin in pursuit.
The parolee refused to pull over after Berlin attempted to stop him for a vehicle code violation just after midnight, according to Morgan Hill police Sgt. David Swing.
The pursuit was called off at approximately 12:30am, near Highway 85, Swing said and the suspect was not apprehended.
Police believe the driver was Michael Maestas, 34, of San Jose
The vehicle was not reported stolen, Swing said, though Maestas did not have permission to drive it. Maestas had been staying at his brother’s house in Gilroy.
