Competitive League The Rampage started out the fall season with
the Santa Clara Rotary Cup tournament on Aug. 23-24. They had only
10 player to field the team. Maia Guerrero as goalie made four
saves during the first game against the San Jose Crossfire. The
defensive lineup had Makenna Austin as sweeper and Noor Khuzaie,
Kierstyn McGlothin as fullbacks. Kourtney Kientzy, Maureen King,
Emily Horning and Janessa Barnes playing midfield, and Remy Gross
and Jackie Vidal as forwards.
Competitive League

Kourtney Kientzy, Maureen King, Emily Horning and Janessa Barnes playing midfield, and Remy Gross and Jackie Vidal as forwards.

Horning and Kientzy both had shots on goal, but couldn’t get it past the goalie. The second game against the Los Gatos Wildcats was an evenly matched game. Guerrero had six saves in this game, and at one time made a huge mid air body sacrifice to save the Wildcats from scoring.

The last and final game of the tournament for the Rampage was against the Sting. The Rampage left the tourney with no wins, but coaches Sally Wrye and Don Kientzy very proud of the strong effort by the whole team.

The next weekend of August was the Tom Radesic Tournament in Morgan Hill. The first game for the Rampage was against the Capital Valley Chaos. Even with Kientzy’s strong kicks , the team was unable to score. The teams were evenly matched throughout the game even though the Rampage was playing in an U14 age group.

In last weekend’s games, CJ. Wrye helped out the midfielders, and Alexsis Nuno proved a solid forward. Stephanie Doting was injured and was able to play for a only few minutes of the tourney. In the second game, the Rampage played the San Francisco Storm. A quick breakaway gave the Storm a second goal, and the score was 2-1 after a penalty kick. In the final game the Rampage played the Sting.

Recreational League

Catherine Dedsaren made a great steal early in the first half and forced the ball up the field to set up a nice shot on goal by Katie Machado for the Blue Cheetahs in the 10U division.

A great save on the part of the Lightning’s goalie Jessica Anderson saved the score. The White Lightning’s Taylor Carson stole the ball and scored the first goal of the season early in the first half. That goal was followed by a steal from Nicole Barsanti who passed to her teammate Emily Kyle who scored quickly to make it 2-0.

Paige Menage of the Blue Cheetahs had an amazing breakaway and scored on a kick high up over the goalie to bring the score to 2-1. The Cheetahs continued to fight back in the first half with great play by Samantha Robbins, Amy Townsend, Kaeli Johnson and Danielle Horning.

The second half brought a second goal for Taylor Carson who dominated the field with her strong play. With the score 3-1 Lightning, Briana Arzate and Melissa Garman continued to try and even the score. Paige Menage had three more shots on goal and was stopped by some great saves on goal by Jessica Anderson. The game ended 3-1 White Lightning.

The Black Venom opened up the season against the Cobras and scored first on Daniel Alvarado’s nicely placed goal. The Black Venom had great two-way play from Juan Montemayor, Eric Romano and Daniel Alvarado. Romano scored the second Black Venom goal, and later Alvarado scored his second goal to cap off the Black Venom scoring. Defensively, the Black Venom was boosted by the play of Peter Simonsen, first as a defenseman and then in the goal. The Cobras eventually worked out a one point-win. The Venom had strong efforts by Spencer Gearing, Arron Smith and Jonathan Davis.

The Blue Thunder defeated the Raging Dragons 5-2 in the 10U opener last weekend. The teams battled to a tie at the half. The Blue Thunder scored two goals by Austin Chenoweth, two by Cody Laurence and one by Benjamin Nuno. Nicholas Blocker helped setup several of the goals and chances. Goalies Tyler Baker and Laurence played well. Mark Butterworth had some great passes for the Blue Thunder.

Eric Stacer scored both goals for the Raging Dragons. Eric Tracy showcased strong footwork dribbling the ball. He had two nice attempts at goal that were denied. Ray Bogarino showed his speed, staying with the ball.
