Chat with the candidates Saturday at the Granary
To find ways to encourage more dialogue and partnership between the Morgan Hill Unified School District and the broader Morgan Hill community, residents are invited to a chat-with-the-candidates event on Saturday Oct. 6 starting at 10 a.m. at downtown’s Granary building, 17500 Depot St.
School board candidates Bob Benevento and Marty Cheek are organizing the informal meeting with city councilmember and candidate Marilyn Librers to find ways to benefit both the school district and the community with greater collaboration. All candidates for the Morgan Hill school board have been invited to attend.
Chamber plans forum to discuss measures, talk with candidates
Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce is hosting a City Council election forum, Wednesday Oct. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Community Playhouse on Fifth Street and Monterey Road.
The Chamber has invited City Council candidates: Larry Carr, Joseph Carrillo, Marilyn Librers and Matt Wendt, and Measure A, B and G proponents and opponents.
The recent changes in redevelopment agency revenues available to the City have placed a yet-to-be-defined challenge on our City Council to continue the City’s economic development.
Therefore the candidates for City Council not only need to understand the complexity of City finance, but need to have the requisite skills to find or create solutions, according to a Chamber press release. It is the goal of this forum to provide an opportunity for business owners and citizens to ask question and learn which candidates are best suited for the task.
We have also asked those in favor of and opposed to three county measures which will impact Morgan Hill; Measures A (county sales tax increase), Measure B (Santa Clara Valley Water District parcel tax extension through 2028) and Measure G (Morgan Hill Unified School District bond proposition).
The forum will be moderated by the Chamber’s board of directors.
The Chamber asks that residents please come and ask questions to challenge the candidates and the measure proponents and opponents.
