Looking at the world with his heart
Born in 2003, our dog came to live with us just a couple of days after his second birthday. Given a fancy real name by our friends who bred him, our little guy had earned the moniker “Puddin’” before he came to live with us. And Puddin’ he’s stayed to this day.
‘Jersey Boys’: The story of the Four Seasons
Writers Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice took a true story and created a unique musical using all the follies and foibles of a famous group without pulling the usual punches. “Jersey Boys” tells it like it was and is. It is a refreshing departure from the usual fluffy bios of other musicals of famous individuals and groups.
Parenting journey leads to debunking of common myths
There comes a time in parenting when you realize that everything everyone told you about raising children is a big, fat lie. Also? When your mother curses you with “someday you will have a child just like you,” that will totally happen. Not that my dear, sweet, sainted mother ever cursed me like that, of course. I’ve seen the retro canvas bags that were common in the ‘90s, slick bags with store logos, designer bags purchased on Melrose Boulevard, and even pocket bags that fold up into small pouches. There’s no escaping it – bringing your own bag is now “in.” What does your bag say about you?
Do you have a quiet cat or a chatty catty?
One of my friends mentioned a magazine article about how cats communicate and he asked me what I thought. Everyone agrees that most cats try to talk to us, especially when they’re hungry and it’s dinner time. Researchers have spent huge amounts of time and money trying to get inside the minds of domestic felines. (What a great job that must be; imagine getting paid to analyze kitty-cat conversations.)
Local photographer’s work on display
The current exhibit in the Gilroy City Hall Gallery is by photographer Rachelle Lee. An Idaho native who relocated to Gilroy with her husband in 2004, she was quick to tell me that she loves Gilroy for its small town feeling, the lovely views and most of all the friendly people. The exhibit featuring portraits of children will be on view through March and April.
