Lisa Faria, a 49-year-old agent for Intero Real Estate in Gilroy, remains hospitalized after the motorcycle she was riding on as a passenger was involved in a fatal accident near Hollister.
At approximately 10:40 p.m. June 21, the 2005 Harley Davidson carrying Faria and Douglas Flora – a 44-year-old resident of Tres Pinos – traveled onto the dirt shoulder of Diablo Hills Drive in an unincorporated area of San Benito County and struck a steel drainage pipe, according to the Hollister-Gilroy area office of the California Highway Patrol.
According to the CHP report, which initially misidentified Flora as a female, Faria and Flora were thrown into the roadway by the impact. Neither rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, CHP officers say. Both Faria and Flora were life-flighted to San Jose Regional Hospital after sustaining major injuries in the crash.
On June 23, Flora was pronounced dead at San Jose Regional Hospital. Faria is still being treated for her injuries, according to the accident report.
Details will be added as they become available.
