Morgan Hill – After winning its first game in school history last week, Sobrato ran into a wall Wednesday.

The Bulldogs fell 17-0 to Presentation in a game that was shortened to five innings because of the mercy rule.

Despite the loss, head coach Rob Piper said he liked how his team responded.

“They have great enthusiasm and great attitudes,” Piper said. “They never gave up and they want to win. Right up to the last out even when we were trailing by the large margin, they still thought they had a chance to win.”

Brittany Vandrugriff, Alex Torres and Frankie Kellett had the only hits for Sobrato. Piper said offensively his team has improved by putting the ball in play and cutting down the amount of strikeouts.

Defensively, Danielle Pavlecic helped turn a double play in the fifth inning.

“This season is about stepping stones,” Piper said. “We’re not looking at wins and losses. We may have lost but the girls got the chance to see what a really good team looks like. They’re a good benchmark to where we want to be.”

Sobrato fell to 1-4 and will play Prospect at 3:30pm Wednesday.

Sobrato’s junior varsity fell to Presentation 14-2. Abbie Broeder and Karen Liensdorf each had a hit and scored a run for the Bulldogs.
