Maria Diva Costa, a long time resident of Gilroy, met eternal rest surround by her beloved children Margarida and Paul at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose on April 23, 2010, after a sudden illness.

Bill Byerly

Bill died at the age of 78, surrounded by his devoted wife and daughters after suffering complications from a fall while vacationing in Palm Desert. Bill was born and raised in San Martin. He worked and retired from Raisch Products where he was a 50 year member of the Operating Engineers Union. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara, daughters Cindy Cross (David) and Leslie Bozzo (Dave), grandchildren Andrew, Aaron and Ashley Cross, Elizabeth, Nathan and Emily Bozzo, sisters Jean McCoy (Denny) and Joan Lynch, numerous longtime friends, nieces and nephews and his faithful dog, Judy. He was preceded in death by his sister Valeda, brother Loren, sister-in-law Fran Byerly and brother-in-law Mike Lynch. Joseph Francis Soares June 21, 1946 – August 18, 2012

Joseph Francis Soares, born in Gilroy, passed away August 18, 2012. He is survived by his wife Judy Soares of Coarsegold, father of Tim (Cheryl) and Ed Soares both originally from Gilroy, grandfather of Will Soares and brother of John, Jr. (DeDe) Soares, Mary (Arthur) Bettencourt, Rosie (Tony) Bettencourt, and Frankie (Robin) Soares, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Soares and brother John Jr.

Robert William Aiassa

Robert Aiassa passed away at Stanford Hospital with his family by his side. He was born and raised in San Jose. His parents were Frank and Elsie Aiassa. Robert started Aiassa Trucking after serving as a Merchant Marine during WWII. He drove a truck for 62 years. He was still driving until December 9, 2008. Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly, sons, Steven and Michael, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mary Grace Bravo

Mary Grace Bravo passed away last Thursday at the age of 86. She was a resident of Mabie Southside Skilled Nursing Facility for the past 6 years. She is the daughter of the late Aniceto and Teresa Bravo who preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Dolores Perry and her brother Frank Bravo as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ruth Millicent Goldsmith died on Thursday, May 21, 2009, at the age of 101. She passed peacefully at her residence at 7600 Isabella Way in Gilroy, CA.

Philip Kaneaki Kobashi

Philip entered into rest after 102 wonderful years. He was born in Wakayama, Japan, and arrived in the United States in 1915. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Sakaye, daughter Rose (Saito), sister Kathryn (Murata) and grandson Todd. He is survived by: sisters, Grace Takashima, Dorothy Katayama and Mary Nakayama (Wayne); sons, Arthur, Isao and Richard; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
