When the organizers who produce Morgan Hill’s two-day annual Fourth of July celebrations called for help last month, local businesses responded.
An economy lagging in recovery coupled with the city’s on-going budget crunch resulted in IDI taking in far fewer dollars than needed to run the six-event celebration. Listed below are the businesses who answered the call – so far – and contact numbers for others to add their names to the list.
IDI President Daryl Manning said money is also coming in from individuals who received letters explaining the need for more funds. But it’s not too late, she said, to help keep this event, at least 110 years old, at recent levels of entertainment. Volunteers are also needed.
Events include the Firecracker Golf Tournament, Friday, June 25; on Saturday, July 3, Patriotic Sing and Street Dance; Sunday, July 4, 5k Freedom Run and pancake breakfast, the parade – since 1894 – family festival and fireworks at dusk. Live musicians play and most events.
