It has been a wet Friday in South Santa Clara County, but city crews and utility providers did not report any significant damage, flooding or other issues associated with the heavy rain and high winds.
As of about 5 p.m. Friday, about 100 PG&E electricity customers in the South Bay were without power, but none of those were in South County, according to PG&E spokeswoman Monica Tell.
Most of those customers without power were in the San Jose area, Tell said.
City public works crews were on hand to respond to storm drain issues and other damages that might result from Friday’s storm, but not significant problems were reported, according to Morgan Hill Program Administrator Anthony Eulo.
The worst damage in or around Morgan Hill as of Friday afternoon, when the rain had slowed to a drizzle, were a couple fallen trees, which did not cause any major damage or hazards, Eulo said.
The rain is expected to pick up again Saturday night and continue into Sunday before the current series of storms that started Wednesday clears up, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain gauge information reported on the Santa Clara Valley Water District’s website reported about 1.5 inches of rain fell on Morgan Hill in 12 hours, as of Friday at 5 p.m.
At Uvas Reservoir, which is at higher elevation west of Morgan Hill, the SCVWD reported about 2.8 inches of rain fell in the same 12-hour period.
Sand, empty bags and supplies are available to residents and businesses to guard themselves against flooding, according to city staff. The supplies are self-serve, and are available at three locations, and are provided by the City and SCVWD.
The supplies are available at the City’s corporation yard on Edes Court, El Toro Fire Station on Old Monterey Road and the City’s Caltrain parking lot on Depot Street.
