“Red Phone, I was saddened to hear about the Red Phone caller where someone stole their American Flag. I just don’t understand why anyone would be so disrespectful to our beautiful American Flag. This leads me to my question. At the southeast corner of Murphy and Middle avenues, a resident has the American Flag flying upside down. You can easily see this as you pass by along U.S. 101. I thought in the military an upside down American Flag was a sign of distress, but why would a resident do this?”
Red Phone: Dear In Distress, you are correct, and flying an upside down flag is a sign of distress. But, not in this case. It’s a local resident who disagrees with the direction our country is heading and is making a political statement. Reporter Michael Moore interviewed the man and a story is scheduled to appear Friday.
Hope that answers your question, good caller, but stay tuned Friday for more details.
More properties need attention
“Red Phone, with whom or what does the caller regarding the weeds growing in the parking strip at Auto Zone have a problem? Does the caller have a beef with the property itself, the tenants or the property owner? Prior to Auto Zone improving and occupying the property, there were a couple of Red Phone callers complaining about the state of the property (weeds, debris and ply boards) and now a caller complains about the weeds that are now gone. Why hasn’t this or any other caller complained about the state of the properties at the corner of Monterey Road and Cosmo Drive or the property at the corner San Pedro Avenue and Monterey Road next to the post office or the property at the corner of Ciolino Drive and Monterey Road or the property next door to Red Phone on north side (former cattle feed store)? I believe the caller regarding the weeds at Auto Zone should develop some intestinal fortitude, aka ‘stones’ and disclose with whom or what his or her beef is with. I find Red Phone calls to be both informative and amusing, as well as irritating. The irritating ones seem to have been written by those who must have been deprived at birth with the ability to develop into someone with intellectual competency.”
Red Phone: Dear What’s Their Beef, Red Phone couldn’t agree more.
