Sobrato High Student is State Semi-Finalist

Isela Banuelos, a junior at Sobrato, has been selected as one of 12 semi-finalists for the Student Member of the State School Board for the 2007-08 school year. She is attending a state conference - the Student Advisory Board on Education - Nov. 4-8. As a part of the conference, she will share a short video presentation about herself and her qualifications for the position. Those six will be interviewed by the State Board of Education screening committee on Nov. 7, and three finalists will be recommended. The governor will select the student representative himself, likely in July 2007, and the new state board representative's first meeting will be Sept. 12 and 13.
