Mushroom Mardi Gras offers $50,000 in scholarships
Local high school seniors are set to benefit from a record $50,000 in scholarships generated by proceeds from the Morgan Hill Mushroom Mardi Gras, as announced today by the annual fungi festival’s Board of Directors.
Board pushes for parcel tax
Despite no specifics as to what the increased revenues would be used for other than to improve local public education, Morgan Hill Unified’s board of education approved a $24,000 expenditure to poll the taxpayers on their likely level of support for a parcel tax. If the results are favorable, a ballot measure asking property owners for more money could go to the voters in an upcoming election.
Teachers Aid Coalition Harvest Wine Tasting
Morgan Hill's Teachers Aid Coalition, a nonprofit organization which helps local teachers receive much-needed school supplies, is having its annual "Harvest Wine Tasting" event at Clos LaChance Winery located at One Hummingbird Lane off Watsonville Road in San Martin at 5:30pm, Oct. 19.
