Host Families Needed

Foreign high school students are scheduled to arrive soon for academic semester and year program homestays, and the sponsoring organization needs a few more local host families.

Gavilan College

Gavilan College Child Development Center has openings for children ages 2-5 who have not started kindergarten. The children do not have to be toilet-trained. Parents do not have to be Gavilan students, though full-time students will have priority. Subsidized and fee-based programs are available.

Emerald Regime Seeks Marchers

Live Oak High School's marching band and color guard is looking for students to join the groups for the upcoming marching season. Band camp starts Aug. 14 at 9am at the Live Oak High band room. Students who are looking for commitment, meaning to their high school life, responsibility and a huge sense of satisfaction are encouraged to get involved. Another bonus of becoming a part of the groups is a chance for a trip to Europe in the spring. No experience is necessary. All Live Oak High students are welcome, including incoming ninth graders. Families Needed for Exchange Students

High school students are coming from around the world to study in Morgan Hill during the 2006-07 school year. They will integrate themselves into a Morgan Hill family with the goal of experiencing American culture as an American high school student. In turn they will provide insight into their own culture. STS Foundation, a non profit student exchange organization, is the program's sponsor.

Cattlewomen’s Scholarships

Santa Clara County Cattlewomen has given Gilroy High School graduate Jiana Escobar and Live Oak High School graduates Anthony Friebel and Erin Schlegel this year's Cattlewomen's Scholarships.

‘Music Man’ Draws Crowds

Students and their families filled Oakwood School's auditorium in June as the student production of "The Music Man" enlivened end of the year activities at the school. The popular musical production had students dancing and singing in elaborate costumes and sets, including a Wells Fargo Wagon. A barbershop quartet was just one of the highlights of the students' performance.
