Crossroads Christian Center Hosts Fundraising Event

Relentless Student Ministries of Crossroads Christian Center, 145 Wright Ave., in Morgan Hill, will be hosting its first annual Relentless Shootout event 8am-8pm, Saturday to raise $10,000 to support Assembly of God missionaries throughout the world.

Crossroads Christian Center is an Assembly of God Church which as been in Morgan Hill for many years. The center operates the Crossroads Christian School.

More than 40 students will come together to individually raise money by taking turns shooting free throws for one hour at the Crossroads Christian Center gymnasium to support the Speed the Light program, which provides equipment to Assembly of God missionaries around the world who work with local non-profit organizations to serve vulnerable populations.

Students will be receiving prizes for their participation. Donations are tax deductible.

American Red Cross Offers Disaster Response Training

The American Red Cross Santa Clara Valley Chapter is seeking volunteers to serve on Disaster Action Teams in Morgan Hill and Gilroy which provide services to local victims of fires, floods and other natural disasters in the South County area.

The agency also announced that September is National Preparedness Month, a coordinated, nationwide effort sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security to raise awareness about the importance of emergency preparedness and encourage individuals to take action.

“There are three simple things each of us can do to be prepared: make a plan, build a kit, and get trained,” said local Red Cross CEO Barb Larson. “It is important to make our community safer and minimize the impact that disasters like fires and earthquakes and other emergencies have on our lives.”

The Red Cross is offering a free emergency preparedness training 6-10pm tonight at 8339 Church St., in Gilroy.
