The Santa Clara County Library has appointed Nancy Howe as the new Community Librarian for Morgan Hill. She officially took over the position on Aug. 4.

Howe, who lives in Saratoga, has been acting community librarian in Morgan Hill since March 1 when Sarah Flowers, former Morgan Hill librarian, was named deputy county librarian.

Howe graduated from the UCLA School of Library and Information Science and has more than 15 years experience as a public librarian for the Santa Clara County Library system. She has managed the adult and teen department at the Saratoga Library and also coordinated staff development, bookmobile and outreach services and the webpage for the County Library.

In addition, she has 10 years’ experience in the human services field. Howe developed information and referral databases of social service information and also worked at United Way where she managed the planning, fund distribution and community services departments. As a community volunteer, Howe has written grants for local schools and served as a management consultant to not-for-profit organizations.

Besides her life as a librarian and volunteering, Howe enjoys reading, traveling and walking. She is married and has two children in college.

“Nancy is a wonderful asset to the Santa Clara County Library,” said Flowers. “I am delighted to be turning over the reins of the Morgan Hill Library to her.

“I just love Morgan Hill,” Howe said.
