Evidence still being gathered in Barsi murder case attorneys

Morgan Hill – David Vincent Reyes did not enter a plea Oct. 20 in criminal court. Attorneys said they are still collecting and sifting through the evidence. The plea hearing was postponed to Dec. 15.
Reyes confessed last month to the murder of Franca Barsi, his girlfriend, according to Gilroy Detective Mitch Madruga. Barsi, a single mother and former Garlic Queen, was found dead in her Westwood Drive condominium Sept. 13. Reyes was apprehended after an hour-long car chase, from San Jose to Gilroy and back, the next morning.
Public Defender Carl Beatty and District Attorney Ted Kajani said lab and police reports are still being generated and will be reviewed by both attorneys before Reyes’ next court date.
