The three Raider Cheer squads that competed at Pop Warner’s Pacific Northwest Regional Cheer Competition Nov. 27 at Santa Clara University took first place. The Pee Wee (9- to 12-year-olds), Jr. Midget (10- to 13-year-olds) and Midget (12- to 15-year-olds) intermediate squads each took home a first place trophy and with it the chance to compete at the National Competition in Orlando, Fla., at Disneyworld the week of Dec. 7 to 11, 2009.
Excitement is high as each of these squads and their families prepare for their trip, knowing the competition will be even more intense at National Championships at Disneyworld’s ESPN Wide World of Sports complex next week. For the midget squad the pressure is really on. Defending their first place National position is top priority.
Jodi Conti, cheer athletic director of Morgan Hill Raiders, said the organizations success has a great deal to do with the support of the people and businesses of Morgan Hill.
“The Morgan Hill Pop Warner Cheer squads would like to thank the community for all of their support and contributions to our success,” he said. “We pledge to make you proud and represent our community with integrity and sportsmanship. Bringing national rankings to west coast cheer is an accomplishment we don’t take lightly.”
