Mustang Division

Athletics 9, White Sox 7

The Athletics overcame a 7-2 deficit after 3 innings to defeat the White Sox. Nick Giordano pitched 3 shut out innings, striking out 9 batters. Brent Bottomley, Blake Porzio, Cole Griffin and Matt Lombardo also pitched for the A’s. The A’s were lead by Blake Porzio who had 3 hits and scored 2 runs, Giordano had 2 hits and scored 2 runs and Jackson Davis had a timely single in the 4th inning. Bradlee Higgins of the A’s made the defensive play of the game running down a deep fly ball hit to center field, making a one handed catch with 2 runners on base. The White Sox were lead by Patrick Muller who had a double, scored 2 runs and pitched 2 innings. Brandon Foster and Travis Moulden also pitched for the White Sox.

Marlins 5, Cubs 0

The Marlins received a strong pitching performance by Kyle Quadros and Kai

Paresa striking out 13 Cub batters in 4 1/3 innings. Ryan Quadros also contributed by pitching two strong innings. The Marlin pitcher’s did not surrender one run to the Cubs offense. The bright spot for the Cubs as the pitching of Taylor Turnipseed who for his effort struck out six batters in two innings of work.

Bronco Division

Braves 12, Astros 3

The Braves used aggressive base-running to secure a victory over the Astros on Saturday. Eight of the Braves runs were scored without the benefit of a hit.

Tyler Lerma and Ben Hartl both scored three runs for the Braves, while Jerry Jacob scored two runs for the Astros. Lerma had two of the Braves five hits while playing a solid catcher and Tommy Piedra chipped in with two RBIs.

The Braves pitching trio of Hartl, Ethan Mata, and Jackson Gion did not allow an Astro hit. Jacob and Aaron Armijo pitched well for the Astros with Marcos Lopez hitting the ball hard to knock in two of the Astros runs.

Pinto Division:

Cardinals vs. Giants 

 Giants’ Eddie Steffani had a nice hit and successful run to first, and was advanced to second as the opposing team sent the ball into the cage while trying to get him out.

Ryan Henner and Derik Heninger both made their debut on the mound as player pitchers. for the Giants. Henner also played catcher for the first time. Ken Williams made a field ground out off first base and Jack Baker tagged a runner out between second and third. Zach Herscovitch, Derik Heninger and Jimmy Marschke all had  RBIs. Williams had a double and Herscovitch added a triple. Austin Calvert and Dante Zanotto hit great singles.

Shetland Division:

Raptor vs. Lugnuts

In a game against the Lugnuts, Raptors’ player Brandon Pulsifier fielded a ground ball, holding the Lugnut runner at first base. Kyle Galloway and Carter Tetherow made outs at first base for the Raptors. Anthony Freitas, Thomas Dunham and Grant Schwuchow made good plays in the infield for the Raptors to prevent the Lugnuts from getting into scoring position.
