The Morgan Hill Pinto A team stayed perfect during the Pony NorCal Central Region championship tournament Wednesday, defeating Blossom Valley No. 1 by a score of 3-1 to advance to the championshp.
The Pinto team jumped on Blossom Valley early with one run in the first inning – Thomas Di Vittorio knocked in Dante Bellistri with a RBI-double.
Morgan Hill added two more runs in the third inning on a two-run home run by Gabe Martinez, knocking in Shane Callison, who had doubled.
That’s all Morgan Hill needed as Callison, Andrew Altmaier and Martinez dominated on the mound. Each Morgan Hill pitcher threw two innings and allowed only one fourth-inning run.
“We played really well,” manager Dave Keegan said. “We pitched really well. The kids played phenomenal defense.”
The Pinto championship game will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Britton Middle School in Morgan Hill.
