A 51-year-old Morgan Hill man died when his vehicle veered off U.S. Highway 101 and struck a tree in San Jose over the weekend, California Highway Patrol officials said Tuesday.

The crash was reported at 1:43am May 29 on southbound Highway 101 south of Blossom Hill Road, where the man veered off the highway and crashed head-on into a tree on the right shoulder, according to the CHP.

He succumbed to his injuries as a result of the crash, and his name was not immediately available from the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
