Live Oak’s Kevin Mom is moving on.
Carmel – Live Oak’s Kevin Mom is moving on.

The junior golfer carded a round of 74 Monday at Rancho Cañada Golf Club in the Central Coast Section South Regional, good for 14th and a spot in the section finals.

On a roll and playing near the top of his game, Mom still feels he has room to improve.

“I know I can do better and now I have a chance at another shot,” Mom said.

The CCS finals will also be played at Rancho Cañada and will take place Tuesday.

Sophomore David Cannon, who qualified for the CCS regionals last year as well, was two strokes shy of the qualifying mark for the CCS finals.

Coach Tony Goble was excited about the performances of his top two golfers and overall at the way his team competed this season after switching from the Tri-County Athletic League to the Blossom Valley Athletic League.

“This was our first year in the BVAL Mt. Hamilton League and we hung in there in a tough division,” Goble said. “We’re young, talented and we were able to accomplish qualifying several individuals to the league finals and one individual through to the CCS finals. With all of our top players returning next season, we look forward to a strong performance.”
