Something unexpected happened to Jose Campusano last Saturday, and he hasn’t been seen since.

The 41-year-old Gilroy man was last seen by his girlfriend, with whom he shared a 100 E. Sixth St. apartment, at about 11 a.m. Saturday when he went out to run errands, according to sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies found Campusano’s car, a gray two-door Cadillac, at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday in a parking lot at Anderson Lake County Park east of Morgan Hill.

A sheriff’s search-and-rescue team with tracking dogs have had no luck finding Campusano in the wooded park. A dive team searched Anderson Reservoir Monday evening for his body. He was not found.

Campusano is a member of the maintenance department at Eagle Ridge Golf Club. He did not show up for work Saturday and has not done so since.

“He had never missed work,” said Campusano’s boss, Maintenance Supervisor Randy Ponce, Monday. “He was a good employee.”

Campusano’s girlfriend reported him missing Saturday to the sheriff’s department.

Deputies have not ruled out suicide or other “suspicious” possible causes for Campusano’s disappearance, but they described it merely as “unexplained.”

Anyone with information concerning Campusano is asked to call the sheriff’s department at 808-4400.
