New family room at MHPD

The Morgan Hill Police Department has a newly renovated “Family Interview Room” in its Vineyard Boulevard headquarters thanks to the generosity of community members.

“This is a great example of creative community and police collaboration,” said MHPD Police Chief David Swing.

The architect of the project was MHPD Detective Joseph Burdick, who saw the need to make the “Public Interview Room” more welcoming and comfortable. The room will also be used as a waiting area for children who have to stay at the police department for any length of time.

“The interview room is often the first place that victims and witnesses of crime see after initial police contact,” explained MHPD Sgt. Troy Hoefling. By changing the décor and furnishings in the room, continued Sgt. Hoefling, MHPD aims to increase the feeling of safety for residents of Morgan Hill while at the same time increasing trust in MHPD.

The Community Law Enforcement Foundation, Rosso’s Furniture, The Grateful Garment Project and Mike Chavez Photography were all instrumental in bringing Detective Burdick’s vision to life.

“I am excited to see how everyone embraced this project and worked hard to make it successful,” said Chief Swing.
