MORGAN HILL — Morgan Hill Pony Baseball finalized its Mustang Division championship Tuesday as the Diamondbacks defeated the Padres in the National League title game to set up a date with the American League-champion Red Sox.

The Mustang finalists will return to Britton Middle School to play in the city championships, which begin at 10 a.m. Saturday for all divisions.

The Red Sox won the six-team AL tournament Monday.

The Pinto Division also is set and will feature the Diamondbacks of the National League and the AL-champion Athletics.

The Pony and Bronco Division title games were halfway complete by press time Thursday. The Blue Jays won the AL crown in both divisions.

In All-Stars news, MHPB released its schedule for the Pinto Sectional that Britton will host starting July 3. The five-team double-elimination tournament will feature A and C Morgan Hill teams. The A team will open against Seaside at 10 a.m., and the C club will face Paso Robles at noon. The section winner earns an automatic trip to the Pinto World Series held July 15-18 in San Jose.

Two other Morgan Hill teams are set to play in a Blossom Valley Pinto Sectional in San Jose starting Thursday.
