Weekday highlights
Orioles: Zach Sin tripled, Robbie Ortiz and Frankie Zhang singled, and Justin Baker scored twice. Isaiah Ahumada had a great hit as well. Michael Castaneda and Justin Baker pitched. In the seventh inning, Castaneda came through with a clutch hit. Baker followed with a base knock, and Ahumada doubled home the game-winning run.
A’s: The team posted 12 hits in a great team effort. Nicholas Hoefling, Kevin Patterson and Ryan Barrett had big hits. Andrew Mendoza, Adam Burg and Parker Andres collected two hits apiece, and Riley Burg had three. The Athletics’ pitching staff did an outstanding job, holding the other team to one run.
Giants: Adam Jennings belted a three-run homer to center field in the fourth inning and pitched a three-up, three-down fifth.
Blue Jays: Luke Newquist had a good game, reaching base in all four plate at-bats with two hits and two walks. He also scored twice. Eric Swensen was strong on the mound, surrendering one run in three innings and striking out the side in the sixth. Garret Kinsey, Eric Clymer and Brandon Kubogamell also contributed hits in the loss.
Red Sox: Jimmy Castro, Zach Robertson, Richie Sigona and Geno Hess provided solid defense. Spencer Varada and Dante Zanotto had key hits in the winning effort. Robbie Jeffrey and Justin Sanders pitched well, allowing no runs.
Padres: Packy Foo posted three hits and two RBIs, Jeremy Cisneroz had two hits, and Tyler Laisure batted 2 for 4 and scored twice.
Saturday highlights
Diamondbacks: Kekoa Bantilan struck out 14 in five innings for the win.
Red Sox: Varada and Robertson made key defensive plays. Sanders, Zanotto and Castro provided clutch hits. Jeffrey and Cassi Orth pitched well to keep the game close.
Orioles: Ahumada pitched two innings. Zhang made two critical catches in the outfield, and Kevin Onyejekwe caught a high fly ball to save a run. Nick Ahmed gloved a hard liner. Baker put out four would-be base stealers at second. Michael Filice made a great play at second as well.
Blue Jays: Kubogamell had another great game with a double, single, two runs and three strong innings pitched. He allowed one run on one hit. Curtis Moiles made a big catch in right field in the fourth with the A’s threatening. Brad Murphy had a key RBI single to center, and Swensen pitched two shutout innings. The Blue Jays’ pitching allowed two hits to the A’s four.
Giants: Outfielder Murray Kornelson hit a beautiful two-run single to center to spark a rally. Jaxon Sawyer and Brian Martin singled once, and Brian Musgrave had a double to go with two singles.
Padres: Sean Araiza and Laisure had three hits and two RBIs; Stephan Brenny had two hits and drove in a run, and Rich Geraffo tripled. Eli Montes made a good catch in the outfield, and Araiza played well at second.
Astros: Anthony provided strong pitching, and Jhustis Steward and Nathan Camacho had big hits.
