BRONCO
May 3-8 scores
Tuesday: Yankees 12, A’s 3; Red Sox 5, Rockies 2. Wednesday: Padres 11, Giants 7; Nationals 9, Orioles 6. Thursday: Diamondbacks 3, Blue Jays 3 (game called because of darkness). Saturday: Giants 8, Blue jays 3; Astros 9, Padres 8; Yankees 4, Red Sox 4; Orioles 4, Rockies 3.
Weekday highlights
Red Sox: Spencer Varada pitched five innings and struck out seven. Justin Sanders closed out the win. Varada and Robbie Jeffrey had hits, and Zach Robertson, Dante Zanotto and Geno Hess provided great defense.
Yankees: Another strong defensive effort all around in the 12-3 victory. Michael Dunne and Michael Montez doubled, and each of their teammates made contact.
Nationals: Ryan Quadros doubled twice, and Chad Bottomley, Sam Buckman and Logan Weislek had singles. Dalton Habina pitched three strong innings, and Robbie Ortiz pitched well for the Orioles.
Blue Jays: Pitchers Anthony Ditta, Eric Clymer, Eric Swensen and Brandon Kubogamell were awesome, scattering three runs in the 3-3 tie with the Diamondbacks. Kubogamell complimented his pitching with a 4-for-4 effort at the plate and two runs. Luke Newquist scored the other run after singling, stealing a base and scoring on a Kubogamell single.
Orioles: Robbie Ortiz pitched four innings, Frankie Zhang made two run-scoring catches in the outfield, and Kevin Onyejekwe batted 3 for 3 and scored three times.
Saturday highlights
Blue Jays: Garret Kinsey had a good game with two hits and a run. Newquist doubled down the left-field line, stole third, then scored on a fielder’s choice. Mathew Vera contributed a hit, and Clymer continued working his back into the rotation, pitching a hitless inning that included two strikeouts.
Red Sox: Jeffrey picked off two runners a first base. Cassi Orth pitched a solid 4 1-2 innings with Sanders closing it out again. The Red Sox received good at-bats from Jimmy Castro, Richie Sagona, Varada, Jeffrey, Hess and Sanders.
Orioles: Pitcher Michael Castaneda worked three strong innings, Isaiah Ahumada doubled and Onyejekwe drove in his team’s first run and later scored. Castaneda hit a two-run walk-off double in the seventh.
Padres: Tyler Laisure scored twice and made a great play at third. The Padres received good outfield play from Jeremy Cisneros, Steven Witter, Eli Montes and Packy Food. Cisneros also provided a single and RBI in the fourth.
Yankees: The team made two double plays. The first one started with an unassisted out at second by Mike Williams, who then threw to first for the second out. Outfielder Justin Cong started the second, gloving a fly ball and firing to first before the runner could get back.

Thursday: Blue Jays 9, Padres 8; Rockies 18, Orioles. Saturday: Nationals 23, Rockies 1; Red Sox 17, Blue Jays 11.
Weekday highlights
Blue Jays: Graham Grisedale homered, Quinn Neto hit a game-ending RBI double, and Ben Buckman gave up one run in two solid innings pitched.
Padres: Chris Turner pitched a scoreless first inning, and Greg Sperry allowed one run in the second. Mason Honda, Chris Knopf, Chris Turner, Greg Sperry and Charles Romriell had hits.
Rockies: A. Castronovo, R. Denure, Anthony Freitas and Gavin Vallez doubled, Colin Bright and C. Dixon had two hits, and pitcher Jeremiah Rosales got the win.
Saturday highlights
Rockies: Bright came through with a double.
Red Sox: Chris Reyes singled for his first hit of the season. Nolan Cisewski and Ryan Whitehead singled, Mikey Yamaguma doubled, Cade Hall, Kris Heredia and Alex Catale tripled, and Marcus Hernandez had an inside-the-park home run.
Blue Jays: Neto batted 3 for 4 with four RBIs, Grisedale went 3 for 4 with two RBIs, Buckman finished 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Kanoa Cordeiro was 2 for 4 and drove in a run.
