The Raiders fumbled away the chance at the perfect season and first place against the also undefeated West Valley Falcons Sunday 32-16.
The Raiders came out and scored first on it’s second possession but ran out of gas, literally and figuratively, in the second half while yielding over 240 yards in the game.
The Falcons featured the aerial attack on the strong arm of it’s young quarterback.
The offense was stymied by a tough Falcon front and couldn’t match the Falcons air ball.
The Raiders scored a late touchdown with two minutes left but didn’t recover the onside kick to try the miracle come back.
The West Valley coach was a Gilroy Browns four time region winner while in the South County, years past.
Garrett Duarte caught a 24 yard touchdown pass from Feliz Orta.
James Hamblin got the late touchdown on a nice option pitch at the goal line.
Robert Fiscalini recovered a fumble.
Junior Pee Wee MH Raiders 12, West Valley Falcons 0
The Jr. Pee Wee Raiders kept it rolling with a big 12-0 win against West Valley beating the host team in another defensive battle.
With no passing game on the day, the Raiders used two big running plays to put the points on the board; both PATs failed. The offense tallied 157 total yards, but 140 of those yards came on two plays.
Juluis Travis ran for 147 yards on seven carries and scored the only touchdowns of the day.
It was the defense that played bend-but-don’t-break-defense that kept the Falcons off the board. The defense surrendered 116 yards, but two key take aways by the Raiders killed drives deep in there zone.
Frankie Palmer had 10 tackles, five solo. Tyler Lerma racked up six tackles with three of them solo.
Anthony Villarreal had three solo tackles and two assists on the day. Hunter Sutton and Jon Molina each had sacks. Lerma recovered a fumble while Travis intercepted a pass.
Game balls were given to the entire defensive line for shutting down the inside run game all day.
