Yankees vs. Indians
The Pinto Division Yankees and Indians squared off at Britton Field on Wednesday evening.
The highlight of the game was the tremendous defense played by the young Yankees.
A total of three double plays were turned by Kyle Simmons, Sammy Johnson, and Anthony Saso.
Saso’s play was the Yankee play of the night as he dove forward from his first base perch to catch the short fly then got the ball back to first for the double play.
Alejandro Torres, Saso, and Jimmy Castro did the pitching duties for the home team Yanks.
The Indians rotated players around the field throughout the night in an effort to round out the experiences of every player.
The Indians play of the game was turned by Steve Navarra late in the game as he took his turn on the mound.
After a sharp grounder was hit to the left side of the infield, Navarra made a great play on the ball, wheeled toward first, and threw the ball on the line well in time to beat the batter.
Offensively, the game featured four doubles.
Morgan Smith of the Indians began their night with a nice double in the first inning and eventually came around to score.
The Yankees were led by a double by Johnson and two doubles by Torres. All of the other Yankees contributed offensively including Auggie Eulo, Zachary Herscovitch, Jermiah Diaz, Brandon Puthoff, Gus Rubio, and Ryan Spohn.
