A 44-year-old man was booked into Santa Clara County Jail Thursday night after officers used a taser to subdue him, according to Morgan Hill police Cmdr. Terrie Booten.
Gregory Huskins of Morgan Hill had two outstanding no-bail felony warrants, Booten said.
He was arrested after MHPD officers responded to an 8:15pm call about a physical fight at a trailer park at 17880 Monterey Road.
The fight was allegedly taking place inside a trailer at the No. 15 lot.
When officers arrived, Booten said, they saw Huskins, who appeared to be injured, running away from them into the trailer at No. 15. Officers knocked at the door, but the woman who answered allegedly told officers no one was inside the residence.
Booten said the officers told the woman they had seen Huskins running into the residence, and she gave them permission to go inside.
While searching the home, officers found Huskins in a bedroom, allegedly attempting to crawl out of the window.
“His arms and hands were behind the curtain, and they asked for him to show his hands and lay down on the floor,” said Booten. “He refused, and aggressively turned towards the officers.”
One of the officers then used his Taser, she added, and officers gained control of Huskins, handcuffed him and took him into custody. He was arrested for allegedly resisting arrest, in addition to the two warrants.
It is standard procedure when an officer uses a Taser on a suspect to have the suspect medically cleared before taking him or her to jail, Booten said, so Huskins was medically cleared by hospital personnel before his booking into county jail.
The investigation into the incident is continuing, Booten said, as officers are looking for the other individual allegedly involved in a fight with Huskins. It is also unclear, she added, whether Huskins was the aggressor or the victim.
