(Goold’s Department Store was located in the Millhouse Mall, the same downtown building in which the BookSmart bookstore and Just Breakfast now hold forth).

August 2004 marks 90 years of library service in Morgan Hill. From Goold’s Department Store to the backyard woodshed of Edith Reed on Sixth Street, to the annex of the old Friendly Inn, to the Nob Hill Shopping Center, to the current Civic Center location, the library has grown and flourished.

Today, Santa Clara County Library is ranked the number one library system in the United States. We circulated a record 611,517 items last year. A new library building is being planned by the city. It’s a fitting time to celebrate the Library’s birthday.
