Feral Cats: Establishing a “cat colony” at Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas, a county jail, is being proposed for the humane treatment of abandoned animals. The board may ask correctional officers to report back on the feasibility of using trained inmates as volunteers.

Budget Hearing: Impacts to drug and alcohol-related services under the county’s proposed spending cuts will be discussed. County administrators are proposing $109 million in cuts from the Health and Hospital System in fiscal year 2007, which starts July 1.
