During tonight’s regular City Council meeting, Mayor Don Gage asked that a “Quality of Life” bond measure discussion be put on the agenda for the Council’s next scheduled meeting on June 3.
Gage wants any possible bond money to take care of ongoing projects in Gilroy, including downtown redevelopment; solving parking issues; dealing with the city’s unreinforced masonry buildings; a new Arts and Cultural Center; a water feature at Gilroy Gardens; improving local parks; and finishing off the athletic fields at Christopher High School.
If this effort at raising a revenue stream is to pass, then it needs two-thirds of the electorate to vote for it.
“We have to find out whether the citizens want it,” Gage said.
More details to follow.
