in the brain when exercising have a positive effect on the immune
system. The enzymes released during exercise help keep the body in

Research has shown that chemicals, known as endorphins, released in the brain when exercising have a positive effect on the immune system.

The enzymes released during exercise help keep the body in a healthy state.

When exercise stops, the amounts of these chemicals decrease, or in some cases, stop altogether.

Consequently, the immune system is weakened.

Furthermore, there is evidence that exercise helps reduce stress levels, which inevitably rise in the face of adversity.

Indisputably, overall health is the most important reason to exercise, especially when an individual’s health is compromised, as when diabetes, cancer, leukemia, or some other catastrophic disease is present.

Children are at as high a risk as adults are when it comes to life-threatening illnesses.

Ailments such as diabetes and cancer do not restrict themselves to the over-18 crowd. They do not discriminate by age.

Organizations such as St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, located in Memphis, Tn., recognize this fact.

The late entertainer Danny Thomas founded St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in 1962. He believed that “no child should die before he has a chance to live.”

The hospital is dedicated to finding cures for such childhood diseases.

Since opening, the hospital has developed protocols that have brought the survival rates of those suffering from childhood cancers up from less than 20 percent to greater than 70 percent overall.

They are supported by charities, and families without insurance are never asked to pay.

St. Jude’s treats children from all 50 states and from 60 foreign countries without regard to race, religion, or creed.

St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital is the first institution established solely for the purpose of conducting basic and clinical research into childhood diseases, mainly different types of cancer.

It is the largest childhood cancer research center in the world, in terms of the number of patients involved in research study protocols and successfully treated.

Mavericks Sports Club in Morgan Hill is also dedicated to this cause.

To support the efforts of St. Jude’s, and as a part of our local community, Mavericks Sports Club is hosting a “Workout Against Cancer” on Monday, April 4.

The public is invited to come to the gym and participate in this worthwhile event.

Guest fees will be waived with a contribution to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Find out how great it feels to help others while helping yourself to better heath.
