San Martin – Once again the case against a man accused of reckless driving resulting in manslaughter was continued.

Nathan Schrock, 21, was in Santa Clara County Superior Court on Tuesday but he did not enter a plea. According to an attorney standing in for Schrock’s attorney, there is information that still needs to be discussed before the next step in the process.

Schrock and family members accompanying him refused to comment.

He turned himself in to police after a $50,000 warrant was issued for his arrest in August. He was booked into Santa Clara County Jail after he turned himself in at the San Jose Police Department. He later posted bail and was arraigned in September.

Schrock has not yet entered a plea.

His truck was hit by a train Jan. 20, 2006, after he drove around another pickup truck and crossing guard arms at San Pedro Avenue. His girlfriend, Jackie Gamboa, 18, was a passenger in the truck and was ejected by the impact. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to witness accounts, Schrock crossed the tracks in front of a stopped train, apparently unaware there were double tracks at the intersection. Another train was coming, and Schrock may not have seen the second train.

Schrock was seriously injured in the collision and did not regain consciousness until the day after the accident.
