As chairwoman of the 14th annual Patriotic Sing, I would like to take this opportunity to invite members of our community, families and friends to this year’s program at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, in the Britton Middle School gymnasium.

The event, which is free to the public, will feature local children singing the songs of our country. This year, we will once again be honoring the men and women of our Armed Forces. We encourage these honored guests to wear their service uniforms to the Sing. We will also be greeting Mayor Pietro Roselli and guests from Morgan Hill’s sister city, San Casciano in Italy. Our show will feature two slide presentations, essay contest awards and a chance to celebrate the birthday of America through music and song. Please join us and rekindle your patriotism.

The Patriotic Sing is the first of several events brought to our community by the volunteers of Independence Day, Inc. Following the Sing on Thursday evening, you are invited to dance in the streets of downtown Morgan Hill to the music of the Dadz.

On Friday, July 4, watch the 5k runners and walkers as they travel the parade route beginning at 8 a.m. At 10:01 a.m., Morgan Hill’s Fourth of July Parade will begin with more than 200 entries. Watch as bands, horses, dignitaries and floats decorated in red, white and blue pass you by.

After the parade, travel to Community Park and enjoy food, entertainment and fun for young and old. Several local bands will perform. And don’t forget this year, all the children’s rides are free thanks to the generosity of three IDI members, Alex Kennett, Bruce Tichinin and Hamdey Altayyeb of My Pizza.

Later in the evening, the Usual Suspects will entertain prior to the dramatic Fireworks Show which concludes the festivities of the Fourth. All in all, some wonderful, memory-making ways to celebrate the Fourth of July in Morgan Hill.

Thank you, IDI, and Happy Birthday America.

Karen Ann Crane, Chairwoman

Patriotic Sing and Essay Contest,

Morgan Hill
