What’s up downtown?
An exhibit of famed Looney Tunes artist Chuck Jones’ works, that’s what.
“The Art of the Animated Film,” is on display in downtown Morgan Hill.
The exhibit, at 17380 Monterey Road next to Royal Clothiers mens clothing shop at Second Street, is the main component of three separate Chuck Jones events coming up in downtown Morgan Hill. On Aug. 1, the nonprofit Chuck Jones Center for Creativity will hold two children’s art classes at the exhibit. The fee is $25. Proceeds will go toward the center. On Aug. 15, various Looney Tunes cartoons will be shown during the association’s Downtown Movie Night.
More than 50 pieces of artwork are on display at the exhibit, from individual celluloid frames from cartoons to sketches and oil paintings of classic characters such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, the Road Runner & Wile E. Coyote as well as the Grinch.
The exhibit is a collaboration of the Morgan Hill Downtown Association, downtown activist and local Realtor Pamala Meador and the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity. The works will be on display through Aug. 20, and all are available for purchase.
Exhibit operators are looking for volunteers. The number of volunteers available will determine the hours the exhibit will be open, Meador said.
For more information, to sign up kids for the Aug. 1 art classes, or to volunteer to man the exhibit, call the Morgan Hill Downtown Association at 779-3190.
