Morgan Hill – A resident of the Maple Leaf RV Park was booked into Santa Clara County Jail early Saturday morning after he allegedly threatened a friend with a gun.
According to Morgan Hill police Cmdr. Joe Sampson, Eric Manhart, 47, was arrested for allegedly brandishing a firearm and making criminal threats.
The incident at 1:30am apparently arose out of an earlier disagreement. Sampson said Manhart and Michael Vicardi, 29, who is also a resident of the park, were with a group of friends at StriXe lounge earlier in the evening and had a disagreement while they were there with some pushing and shoving, but police were not called.
Later, Vicardi and the group of friends were back at the park, sitting outside a trailer and drinking, Sampson said, when Manhart came out of his trailer, still upset about the earlier altercation. Manhart and Vicardi exchanged a few words, and then Manhart allegedly pulled a small caliber handgun from his waistband, pointed it at Vicardi’s head and threatened to “blow him away,” Sampson said.
One of the other people there jumped in between the two, Sampson said, and yelled at Manhart to put the gun down. Manhart ran back to his trailer, and Vicardi and the others went inside another trailer and called police.
Sampson said officers set up a perimeter and told Manhart to come out of the trailer. He complied and was arrested without incident.
Officers searched Manhart and his trailer but did not locate a weapon. They did find ammunition inside the trailer, however, for .22 and .25 caliber weapons.
