total of eight Acorn wrestlers turned in winning performances,
seven of them winning by pin, in the victory.
In its first non-league dual meet of the season, the Live Oak High wrestling team edged host Los Altos 41-39 on Tuesday night.

A total of eight Acorn wrestlers turned in winning performances, seven of them winning by pin, in the victory.

Winning by pin were Jason Hendersen (119), Roger Alcarez (130), Mitch Haaser (152), Pat Courtney (160), Mike Horner (215), Gennaro Redmond (Hwt) and Mike Gamez (Hwt).

Winning by technical superiority was 135-pounder Brett Jones.

Live Oak was missing a few wrestlers due to illness and had to bring up a few first-year wrestlers to comp-ete at the varsity level, as well as shift its weight lineup as a result.

In other action, the Acorn JV wrestlers took six first-places at the Taz JV tournament at Overfelt High on Friday, Dec. 12.

Hendersen, Jones, Steve Gunn, Jake Ortiz, Gennaro Redmond and Jon Redmond all picked up wins for Live Oak.

Richard Hossein also placed for Live Oak, finishing fourth.

The only team in the tourney that had more wrestlers qualify for the finals than Live Oak was Bellarmine.
