MORGAN HILL — The club rugby team from Live Oak High School on Saturday notched another big win in Skyhawk Conference play, beating Valley Christian 58-7.

The Acorns began the rout in the three-minute mark with a try by Alex Muhn, a senior center. Muhn missed the conversion, leaving Live Oak ahead 5-0.

The Acorns pushed ahead with two more tries from Muhn and another by sophomore hooker Daniel Johnson. Muhn, Joe Guidry and Nik Groen added a conversion a piece, and Live Oak held a comfortable 26-0 lead at the break.

The Acorns made it 58-0 with six tries in the second half. Senior center B.J. Heinen, junior prop Erik Poulsen, senior scrum half Nick Ferguson and junior flanker Eric Webb each tallied a try, and Johnson added two more to match Muhn with a hat trick. Groen slotted the conversion on Johnson’s final try to end Live Oak’s scoring. Muhn led the team with 17 points, and Johnson had 15.

Valley Christian scored a try and a conversion as time expired.

The Acorns have a bye this week, but will continue conference play Saturday, March 21, hosting the Peninsula Green Beavers at Live Oak High School.
