Live Oak nearly rallied to take down first place Del Mar on Friday, but dropped a tight 8-7 contest.

It didn’t start out well for the Acorns as they trailed by four in the first period.

But Live Oak’s focus stepped up in the next two periods as its offense went on the attack, but it wasn’t enough to overtake the Dons.

Senior Brian Costello scored four goals and added an assist. Senior Kyle Dutra slammed home two goals and dished out three assists while senior Conner Williamson had a goal and an assist.

The Acorns are currently in third place and will face off against Leland at 6pm Friday the final regular season game for the seniors.

Live Oak is scheduled to play June 8 – the same date as graduation – so the Acorns will have freshmen Christian Simonsen and Daniel Daly and juniors Paul Anderson, Michael Widergren, Kyle Widergren, Kyle Rosenzweig and goalie Ryan Listol take the rink for the final game before the playoffs.

Live Oak students or home schoolers in the Live Oak district interested in playing next year may contact li***********@***oo.com.
