The Live Oak girls won four events and qualified six athletes for the Blossom Valley Athletic League championships during a third-place finish at the West Valley Division Finals.
Paige Frierson won three events Friday at Lincoln High School, including the 300 hurdles (51.90), 4×100 (54.09) and 4×400 (4:19.21). Annalise DiSalvo joined her in both relays and also advanced in the 200 and long jump.
Carolina Martinez won the 3,200 (12:56.51), and Emily Guthormsen was second in the 1,600 and 800, and ran in the 4×400. Alissa Pham, another 4×400 mate, will throw the discus at BVALs.
Emily Sparling was part of the winning 4×100.
- Live Oak’s Afari La-Anyane swept both hurdles events in the boys finals, winning the 110 hurdles in 15.71 and the 300 in 42.58.
Teammate James Gabbard won the 800 (2:03.24) and qualified for BVALs in the triple jump and 4×400 as well. Kalum Bergstrom took second in the 1,600, third in high jump and ran in the 4×400 for the Acorns, who placed sixth.
NOTES: The Blossom Valley Athletic League Finals will be held Thursday at Mount Pleasant High School. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. with the girls and boys pole vault. Field events start at 3:30 p.m., followed by the track events at 5.
