Although the season is early, Live Oak graduate Kristina Conrad has shown that she can dominate on the volleyball court for San Jose State like she did for for the Acorns.
The 5-10 freshman outside hitter, who is majoring in Marketing, shared the Tri-County Athletic League MVP last year and received honorable mention to the All-CCS team during her junior year.
Despite battling an ear infection in her first game of the season for the Spartans on Aug. 30 against powerhouse Santa Clara, Conrad was still able to post some strong numbers.
She had 18 kills to tie for first on the team. She also had four blocks, seven digs and 21 total points.
Her mom Karin, who played volleyball for the Broncos in her college career, was on hand to watch her daughter play.
But there was no conflict in interests. Whatever team her daughter was on would be the team she roots for, she said.
In the game on Wednesday, Conrad recorded six saves in the team’s 25-30, 20-30, 28-30 loss to San Francisco. Although the Spartans were close in both of the first two games, they start the season off with an 0-2 record.
The Spartans next two home games are Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
