When Live Oak High and Sobrato High released their respective
varsity football schedules earlier this year, a quick perusal
revealed that both teams were set to play home games at Live Oak
High on Friday night, Oct. 28. According to the original schedule,
LO was supposed to host Salinas, at 7:30pm, while Sobrato (which
will also play its home games at LO
’s Richert Field) was slated to host Sonoma Valley …at 7:30pm.

When Live Oak High and Sobrato High released their respective varsity football schedules earlier this year, a quick perusal revealed that both teams were set to play home games at Live Oak High on Friday night, Oct. 28.
According to the original schedule, LO was supposed to host Salinas, at 7:30pm, while Sobrato (which will also play its home games at LO’s Richert Field) was slated to host Sonoma Valley …at 7:30pm.
So who was right?
This week, a quick review of the schedule found that, due to a mix-up, it was LO that was mistaken.
Instead of hosting Salinas on Oct. 28, the Acorns are actually slated to play at Palma on that date.
That also meant that several other games on the original LO schedule were inaccurate.
In fact, the only Tri-County Athletic League game that remained the same from the originally released schedule was the Nov. 11 home contest against rival Gilroy.
See Page B2 for entire revised LO varsity football schedule.
In addition, Sobrato has announced that it has had to cancel its original regular season opener against Kings Academy, and will instead host Mission Prep (San Luis Obispo) on Saturday, Nov. 5 at LO High.
Meanwhile, both Morgan Hill football programs continued summer workouts in anticipation of the start of fall practice on Monday, Aug. 15.
While LO has generally eschewed scrimmages this summer, the first-year Sobrato varsity squad continued its development with a 7-on-7 passing scrimmage at Carmel on Thursday.
Bulldogs coach Jeff Patterson said he was particularly pleased with the progress of new quarterback Matt Kellett, who got all the snaps due to an injury to fellow QB Chris Montoya, along with receivers Brandon Duggan, Alejandro Blanco, and Erik Woodruff, along with defensive players Juvenal Rodriguez, Itzcaly Valencia, Adrian Alcantar and Josh Cuevas.
Patterson said he invited Carmel to a 7-on-7 scrimmage at Sobrato on Tuesday.
Both teams have scheduled scrimmages on Friday, Aug.26, with LO playing at Santa Cruz at 7:30pm and Sobrato at Gonzales at 4pm.
