Live Oak’s quarterback Erik Ornduff looks for a pass during a Week 2 game against Christopher. Ornduff threw for two touchdowns in a 34-6 win over San Jose Oct. 11.

Live Oak continues to roll, with a 34-6 win over San Jose Friday night.
The Acorns, 4-1, 2-0, had another strong game from Trevor Bearden, even if his yardage didn’t reflect it.
The standout senior running back had three touchdowns to lead the team to a convincing win. He gained fewer than 200 yards for the first time since playing Christopher, but the result was much different.
He had 168 yards on 24 carries, but was supplemented by a balanced passing attack.
Quarterback Erik Ornduff had two throwing TDs as he threw for almost 150 yards.
He had scoring passes to Paul Lomanto, Jr., and Cole Griffin.
“We had a little bit of everything. We were pretty balanced,” said coach Mike Gemo.
The Acorns jumped out to a 20-0 lead at half time, and then scored two more touchdowns in the third quarter.
At that point, Gemo called off the dogs, including resting Bearden for the fourth quarter.
Live Oak is already shifting its focus on next week that could very well determine the league championship.
The Acorns will battle Westmont Oct. 18, who suffered a stunning loss to the previously winless Lincoln Lions.
Live Oak and Silver Creek are tied atop the Santa Teresa Division standings at 2-0. Silver Creek has so far only beaten two winless teams after going 0-3 in non-league season.
If Live Oak can run the gauntlet of the next two weeks — starting with Westmont next Friday and then Silver Creek on Oct. 25 — the road becomes slightly easier.
“We already practiced this morning and we’ll be ready to go Monday,” Gemo said.
Kickoff is 7 p.m. Friday at Richert Field.
