High wrestling team captured its Tri-County Athletic League dual
meet opener by beating host North Salinas 54-15 on Wednesday.
Starting with a pin by star Hondo Dominguez at 112 pounds, Live Oak
dominated the middle and heavier weights en route to the
victory.
Led by five pins and and three points victories, the Live Oak High wrestling team captured its Tri-County Athletic League dual meet opener by beating host North Salinas 54-15 on Wednesday.

Acorns earning pins included Richard Hossein (145), Pat Courtney (152), Gabe Sedberry (189), Mike Horner (215), and Dominguez.
Sedberry pinned his opponent in 40 seconds, while Courtney earned his pin in 41 seconds.
Earning points victories for Live Oak were Jason Hendersen (119), Ishmael Marsiclan (130) and Jonathan Redmond (171).
Hendersen won by a 10-0 score, Marisclan won by a major decision 13-0 and Redmong claimed a 9-0 win.
Live Oak’s Daniel Wahl (160) and Michael Gamez (275) both won by forfeit.
Both teams forfeited at 103.
Live Oak hosts its TCAL dual meet home opener against Salinas on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
In the JV match, Live Oak won five of its seven matches, starting with a pin by Beatrice Castro in a girls’ exhibition match at 119.
Other JV winners included Roger Alcaraz, who won at 130 pounds by an 11-1 score, Brian Smith, who pinned his opponent at 171 pounds, and Gennaro Redmond, who also won by pin in the Heavyweight division.
Live Oak’s Mitch Haaser added a win by forfeit.
At the Acorns’ home opener, there will be raffle tickets and a drawing for all students who attend, with a chance to win gift certificates for Starbucks or pizza.
