Live Oak alumni Jamie Hickey received top honors playing soccer as a freshman at West Valley College. She was named the Defensive MVP, and her year was capped off by achieving Scholar Athlete status due to her outstanding performance on the field and in the classroom.

As a defender, her aggressive style of play was instrumental for West Valley in their season finish as Coast Conference Division Champions. West Valley was ranked 12th in the state, and Hickey was named to the First Team All-Conference for her efforts in season play. At the BK Community College Classic Tournament in southern California, her hard work paid off as she made the All-Tournament Team.

Hickey, a four-year starter at Live Oak, was best known for wreaking havoc on opposing teams, and she helped the Acorns win the CCS co-championship title in 2004.

“I really like playing college soccer because it’s a more aggressive style of play,” Hickey said. “I would encourage high school athletes to go and play in college. It’s a great way to make friends and have a lot of fun.”
